The first step in installing floorboards is to go down to the nearest hardware store and buy up a set. You must first figure out which type of wood would be good for your home; if you want the original type of wood that was installed in your house you can take a small piece of the old wooden boards for a sample. Experts can usually determine what type of wood is just by looking at it so if you bring them a piece of your old floorboards they can tell you what type of wood it is. So, once you get the floorboards you should not install them. Wait before you try to install anything; wait a few days. Why wait? Wood needs time to adapt. The interior of your house is probably much warmer than where the wood was being stored so the wood will need to expand due to the warm temperatures. If the expansion occur while the wood is already in place it could ruin the whole look of your floor so in order to avoid making unnecessary mistakes store the wood for a few days. While you are waiting for the wood to adapt you can start working on removing the old floorboards.

Removing the old floor boards is quite simple really; you just have to remove the screws that fasten them in place and pop them out of their sockets. Once you have removed the old flooring and all that remains is the subflooring you need to treat the subflooring a bit before you install the new wood. First, make sure that the subflooring is straight and even. You can figure out if the subflooring is straight with a long ruler; you can fill the uneven parts with cement. Once the subflooring is straightened out you can go ahead and start laying out your new floorboards. Once you got the floorboards in place nail them in and enjoy.
